ETRADE.COM Debit Card Activation
Hi..
I'm please to share with others on how to activate your etrade.com debit card. For me this is a second time but still having troublesome because of some information provided not correct (while validate my identity).
At first, i have gone through mr. google asking for anybody shared about this information. Just found one but its long time ago.. from the post i found he did mentioned about using skype to call them for activation.. but i have try ask their support and search online seem no luck..
So, what i did is that get iTalk RM10.. call their toll free, enter 1 for Bahasa and enter my iTalk card pin number. Next, you can either ask the operator to make the connection or you can directly enter their number.. from the etrade.com website card activation number is 1 866 767 0813 (just dial... 001 866 767 0813) and the operator will told you how long you will be able to talk.. for example for me.. more than an hour! ...
While connecting.. there will be another operator will inform you that the number you are calling is not a toll-free number and you will be charge for the calls.. you should just ignore and wait... until there will be another operator ask you to : 1. enter your card number .... 2. social security number... then your card should be successfully activated !!!!!!
Hey.. this only if you successfully provide all the info correctlly.. for me 3-4 times i tried.. pass there pass here.. untill one condition where the customer service, card activation operator and me.. talk simultenously to solve the issue.. you know what??? my social security number issue...
ok, for first try.. i manage to enter my card number.. then when asking social security number.. i think a while (not enter anything).. as i am malaysian so what info i need to enter? .. so i just wondering that will be my ic.. after entered.. i am beeing forward to operator for more verificatian.. they ask my name.. ask my account number and my social security no again.. unfortunately.. i can't give the correct one.. so they ask me to call 1 800 387 2331 customer service and update my info before they can activate my card (for security reason they cannot activate my card)..
orait.. once i connected to the customer service and speak with my account advisor.. he double confirm me that all the information is updated and for social security number he said my dob (damn!! this is the reason).. so here i go again call the number again to activate and this time i have enter my dob as social security number and still i have redirected to the operator decline my activation.. they still ask me again to contact the customer service and update my profile. Here at the 2nd time i have called the customer service..this time quite friendly this person try to solve this problem to me where 3 of us like push to talk thingy.. hehehe can talk 3 person at one time.. try to hear whats the problem with the card activation person and my account advisor.. seem this issue cannot be resolve and i have been advise to do some transaction using this new card and check if the card is valid or not (like troubleshoot lol) ...
after hang up.. i believe that this thing will not going anywhere if i'm myself cannot identify my social security number. For the troubleshoot i have try to update my paypal credit card and as aspected the card was decline. So thats it for today!!!
i take one extra step.. i email the support/customer service and describe my problem and the next day they email me my social security number... do u know what it is??? hahahaha... because i don't have the social security number!!! so for my security number just enter default value for social security number!!!!... AAarRRRGGghghhHHh.. so now they accepted.. the number pattern XXX-XX-XXXX... X is a number! only one number! very.. very.. very unbelievable.... what i have been gone through.. just because my stupidest to know this! or.. you guest!! .. i have been wasting my time to call here and there..AAaaarRrGggggHH..
anyway.. my iTalk balance still have Rm3 something.. really hope my experience can reduce others malaysian come to this same issue!!! its take me 1-2 minutes to activate...if everything is fine!
